Ella Morris and Muessel-Ellison Botanical Conservatories
and Potawatomi Greenhouse
 Since
the 1920's the Potawatomi Greenhouses have given the area flowers and plants to enjoy year
round. The addition of the Ella Morris and Muessel-Ellison
Botanical conservatories in 1963 and 1967 included a tropical and more
people friendly area for all to enjoy. The Arizona Desert Dome was
completed in 1973. Many types of cacti and succulents give a feel
of the arid southwest to visitors. Century plants and a large
Monkey Puzzle tree stand out in this collection of desert oddities.
Potawatomi Greenhouses
Eight
growing houses are used to grow flowers and plants for three seasonal
flower shows and to supply the conservatories. These houses are
packed in April and May with thousands of annuals to plant in South Bend
parks, the zoo, golf courses and fire stations. Several other city
sites are supplied with the plants to help brighten South Bend
through the spring and summer seasons.

Morris Conservatory
This conservatory hosts a meeting room filled with tropicals and
flowering plants of the current season. The lush jungle feel of the
Morris Conservatory with its large rubber trees, bamboo and
citrus trees, invites visitors to explore nature's beauty.
Muessel-Ellison Conservatory
The relaxing sound of a small waterfall
surrounded by bougainvillea, bird of paradise and many other exotic plants
make this room a favorite site for weddings and photographers.
