2005 Triathlon!
TCU 9th Annual  Kids Triathlon For Kids ages 5 to 14 years old.  "Every Kid is a Winner" in this exciting event.  Each participant will receive a race t-shirt, finish medal, post race food, snacks and awards for age division winners.

Date:

Saturday, July 25th, 2009.  Race Time is 8:00 a.m.  

Location:

Potawatomi Park Swimming Pool, 2000 Wall Street, South Bend, Indiana. (Next to the Potawatomi Zoo and Kids Kingdom.)

Chaperones:

Participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or relative 17 years old or above.  One chaperone may accompany the participant in the transition area and on the run.

Age Divisions:

Swimmers (able to swim 25/50* yards) ages: 5/6; 7/8; 9/10; 11/12; 13/14*
Non-Swimmers (need life jacket) ages: 5/6; 7/8; 9/10; 11/12; 13-14*
Note: No changes can be made to the swimmer status once the application has been submitted.

Entry Fee:

For entries postmarked on or before June 19th, 2009
$20.00 per Child
For entries postmarked between June 20th through July 3rd, 2009
$30 per child
For entries postmarked between July 4 and July 18, 2009
$40 per child

In person: Bring in an entry form with payment to the O'Brien Recreation Center, 321 E. Walter St., South Bend.  Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
By mail: Submit entry form with full payment to:

Parents, the field is limited, so enter early.  Please don't disappoint your child by waiting until we are out of spaces!  Entries must be postmarked no later than July 18th, 2009 or they will not be accepted.  A detailed pre-race information letter will be mailed to you after we receive your registration form and payment.  Call 574-299-4768, ext. 239 if you do not receive a pre-race information letter and one will be sent to you.

Packet Pickup:

Mandatory race packet pick-up will be held at the pavilion across the street from the Potawatomi Park Pool on Friday, July 24, 11am-7pm.
There will be NO race day packet pickup.  If your child fails to attend the pick-up on Friday, he/she will be eliminated from the competition.

Mandatory Bike Inspection

Each participant (child) must accompany their two-wheeled self-propelled bicycle and bicycle helmet to Albright's Cycling & Fitness Center (2720 Lincolnway West, Mishawaka) for a mandatory safety check.  These free safety checks will be available from July 13 through July 23.  Participants who reside outside a 30-mile radius of South Bend may choose to have their helmets and bikes inspected at their local bike shop or police department.  Proof of inspection on printed letterhead is mandatory!

Swim:

25* yard swim (one length of the pool) in the outdoor Potawatomi Pool (life jackets will be provided so non- swimmers can participate) 5/6 year olds will start, followed by 7/8; 9/10; 11/12 & 13-14.  * 50 yard swim (two pool lengths) for 13/14 year olds.

Bike:

Immediately following the swim, participants will bike a 1.3 mile course (one lap course).  Two wheeled, self propelled bikes only - no scooters, tricycles or training wheels will be allowed. HELMETS ARE REQUIRED - NO EXCEPTIONS!  Note: One chaperone can help each child find their bike, and get their helmet and shoes on.

Run:

The race will conclude with a 1/2 mile run around the Potawatomi Park softball diamond, greenhouse and the green space to the west of Potawatomi Pool.

Post-Race Activities

At the end of the race each child will receive a finish medal.  Immediately after the race results have been determined (approximately 30 minutes after the last competitor crosses the finish line), an awards ceremony will be held to recognize the top finishers.  There will be snacks and drinks available for all participants.  In the sponsor/event area there will be concessions for purchase before and during the event.
